Electric Pointillism

Hello, and welcome to Electric Pointillism

I built this site to show my works or works in progress in the ancient artform of tattooing. I chose the name "Electric Pointillism" because modern tattooing is done with electrified machines and is essentially pointillism done with a needle rather than paintbrush. In case you were wondering, pointillism is a style of painting popularized in the late 1880's in which the artist would paint in small dots, or points, rather than in brush strokes. The end result is what we would refer to today as "pixellated". The neat thing about pointillism is that the mind fills in the space in between dots almost making it appear as if it were brush strokes.  Georges-Pierre Seurat or, "Seurat the dot" as some call him, was probably the most famous pointillist.

   Does this painting look familiar?

It is perhaps Seurat's most famous work, it is titled "Un dimanche après-midi à l'Île de la Grande Jatte" ("Sunday Afternoon on the Island of Grande Jatte"), this was painted over the span of 3 years (1884-1886) and can currently be seen on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
